This month, the hockingstuart Network is helping raise awareness for Blue September, an organisation fundraising to combat men’s cancers.

Cancer is still the second most common cause of death in Australia after cardiovascular diseases. The projected amount of new male cancer cases diagnosed in Australia this year is close to 70,000; and every year, 30 percent more men die of cancer than women, purely from late diagnosis. Blue September is fighting to change this.

The organisation is aiming to raise $400,000 to go towards medical research into men’s cancers, as well as assist the Australian Prostate Cancer Research purchase two flexible video cystoscopies for its men’s health clinics. These devices are able to cut down a cancer diagnosis waiting time in the public system from six months to just a few days – which can count tremendously when it comes to being diagnosed with cancer.

Inspired by the work of Blue September, the hockingstuart network has created a fundraising page to help make a difference. Caulfield director, Marshal Rushford, is also lending his auctioneering skills to help auction items at one of the organisation’s charity dinners.
